After a prolonged dry spell, Jharkhand received scattered light to moderate rains yesterday. The last rains that a few stations of Jharkhand witnessed were on February 14, thereafter, rains have remained absent from showing up in the state.

Within a span of 24 hours, from 08:30 am on Sunday, Daltonganj recorded 9 mm of rains, Chaibasa 2.1 mm, Giridh 1 mm, Jamshedpur  0.6 mm, Bokaro 0.5 mm, and Ranchi witnessed very light spells to the tune of 0.4 mm. It was due to the patchy rains that the weather of Ranchi became pleasant.

According to Skymet Weather, these rains were due to a trough extending from North Rajasthan to West Bengal across Jharkhand. Moreover, a Western Disturbance is also traveling along the foothills towards East India.

As of now, the weather system has moved away eastwards, and thus the weather of Jharkhand would once again become dry. Northwesterly winds are also blowing over the region which would lead to reducing the humidity levels.

Furthermore, these northwesterly winds would be responsible for dropping the maximum temperatures that are at present settling above the normal levels by 4-7 degrees Celsius. The minimum temperatures may also witness a marginal drop.

The days would once again become sunny and warm. Meanwhile, the night temperature would remain comfortable and pleasant for another few days.
