Rain on Weekend in Delhi, less chilly nights till then

February 4, 2016 12:54 PM |

Rain in Delhi1Finally, it is that time of the year when Delhi is gearing up to say goodbye to the chilly mornings. With rains approaching, minimum temperatures are likely to increase significantly by 5-6 degrees after 48 hours.

The national capital has been witnessing cold nights and mornings since February 1, wherein the minimum temperature that was 14°C on January 31 came down to as low as to 6.6°C on February 2.

However, isolated light showers on February 6 and February 7 will change the weather substantially. The weather activity can be attributed to the fresh weather systems approaching Northwest India.

According to Skymet Weather, a Western Disturbance is likely to affect hills of North India by February 06 that will induce a cyclonic circulation over Rajasthan and adjoining Haryana. Presence of the systems over the region will change the wind pattern and southwesterly winds from the Arabian Sea will start blowing over the region. These warm and humid winds along with cloud cover will lead to significant increase in minimum temperatures by 5-6 degrees by February 6. The persistent weather will not let the night temperatures decrease on February 7 also.

Thereafter, with the passage of the weather systems, minimum will drop again by 2-3 degrees but wintry chill will not return.

In coming days, weather will be comfortable during morning and night. While, days will continue to be pleasant despite slight drop in day temperatures. Sun is moving towards Northern Hemisphere and therefore, normal average of temperatures across the northern plains will also rise.
