After rain and thunderstorms weather of Northwest India will go dry once again

April 27, 2024 11:33 AM|

Many parts of Northwest India, including Haryana, Delhi, parts of Rajasthan, western Uttar Pradesh, and Punjab, received scattered rain and thunderstorms on April 26th. This pre-monsoon activity brought much-needed respite, bringing down evening temperatures. In Delhi, for example, temperatures dropped from 34 degrees Celsius to a pleasant 27 degrees Celsius between 7:30 and 8:00 pm. Similar drops were observed across the region.

A western disturbance over North Pakistan, along with a cyclonic circulation over Central Pakistan and adjoining Rajasthan, is credited for these pre-monsoon showers. While the Western Himalayas may continue to see rain and snowfall for the next 1-2 days, and the northern districts of Punjab might experience some lingering showers, the weather in South Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, West Uttar Pradesh, and Rajasthan will become dry. No significant weather activity is expected across Northwest India for the remainder of April. This dry spell will likely be accompanied by a gradual rise in temperatures. However, experts advise there's no immediate threat of heatwave conditions in the region for at least the next week.

Pre-monsoon activity typically intensifies in May and continues through the first half of June across much of Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, and Rajasthan. Notably, while the north has escaped heatwaves in April, central and southern India have been experiencing scorching temperatures. While May is likely to see a rise in temperatures, occasional pre-monsoon showers may offer temporary relief.
