However, since then both the maximum as well as minimum temperatures have been on rise. According to Skymet Weather, the reason behind the rise can be attributed to the reversal of wind direction. Strong northwesterly winds are now being replaced with warm winds from east and southeast direction.
With this change here to stay, we can expect mercury to rise further. Although nights would remain comfortable but days would turn very warm and humid. In fact, in the coming days i.e. by February 14, day temperatures might reach 34°C-35°C.
Any relief would be seen by the weekend only, as winds would once again change the direction. As the cold winds from north return over the state capital, the temperature would fall again. Nights would again become cool as minimum would once again dip to 13°C -15°C.
Mumbai does not see any rains during part of the year. In fact, it is considered to be the dry period for the city. Thus, the weather over Mumbai is mainly governed by the winds.
