Very warm weather has been prevailing over the city of Chennai for a very long time now. It has been more than two months, and no rains have made an appearance over the city. The last time the city did receive some rainfall was on March 17. Since then, Chennai has remained dry.
The residents of the capital city of Tamil Nadu have been waiting for some good news in the form of rains to get even a brief period of relief from the prevailing hot weather conditions.

However, now rain gods are all set to bestow some kindness over the residents of Chennai as rainfall activity is all set to appear over the city around May 24. Thus, during that time, light to moderate showers will continue over the capital for three to four days.
A Cyclonic Circulation is expected to form over Southwest Bay of Bengal which will gradually move in a north-northwest direction towards the Andhra Coast. A trough is also likely to develop along the Tamil Nadu coast which will further lead to an increase in rain activities over entire Coastal Tamil Nadu including Chennai.
Temperatures may fall marginally, and some relief may be witnessed in terms of hot weather. Thus, Chennaiites should get ready for some rains after a long gap which is expected to continue for some time.
