Delhi has been seeing dust storm and thunderstorm activities. Yesterday, the national capital witnessed intense thunderstorm activities accompanied with rains and squally winds, which resulted in some damage across the Delhi NCR region. Over a 100 trees were uprooted, loss of life of two was also reported along with several flights diverted.
The reason for such rain and thunderstorm is attributed to a trough running from the Cyclonic Circulation over Rajasthan across Northwest India, reaching up to East India. The trough still remains closer to Delhi, thus some dust storm and thunderstorm activity may be seen during the evening hours.
However, after today, the trough is shifting a little north of Delhi due to which these weather activities will come to a halt. For the next 6 days or so, winds will remain strong, making it a loo like situation and weather will remain dry.
Temperatures may reach up to even 44 degrees in some parts of Delhi and the NCR region. The weather may not amount to heat wave conditions as the normal for Delhi during this time remains at about 40-41 degrees. However, weather will remain hot accompanied with loo conditions due to strengthening of winds blowing to about 20-30 kmph.
