After highest maximum of season; dust storm, thunderstorm in Delhi todayDelhi weather has remained hot for quite some time now. Temperatures have been witnessing an increase each day and residents are desperately waiting for the heat to subside. Air conditioners have become a necessity and the shikanji stalls have been witnessing an upscale in their sales.

A day before, both the observatories, the Palam and the Safdarjung, had seen maximums reaching new heights. The maximum temperature yesterday was even higher over these areas yesterday. Palam observatory saw the maximum reaching to a whopping 43.9 degrees Celsius which was the highest of this season. The Safdarjung observatory saw its maximum going up to 42 degrees which is once again the highest.

Now, the winds have changed direction and southeasterly winds have begun to blow over the region. Due to this, maximum temperature has already witnessed a drop as compared to yesterday. At 10:00 am, the maximum at both Palam and Safdarjung observatory was recorded at 33 degrees which is four degrees less than yesterday.

There is more relief in sight for the city during the evening hours as dust storm, thunderstorm followed by light rains are likely over Delhi and adjoining areas of Noida, Gurugram, Ghaziabad, and Faridabad. This weather activity is expected to be short lived and will occur during the late afternoon and evening hours.

These weather activities are attributed to a cyclonic circulation over North Rajasthan and adjoining Punjab. A trough is also extending from this system across Delhi, and Haryana up to West Uttar Pradesh.

Thus, dust storm, thunderstorm may be followed by light rains. Tomorrow, temperatures are once again expected to rise but will remain below the 40-degree mark.
