As had been forecast by weathermen at Skymet, rains have now reduced over Tamil Nadu and Chennai.
During the last 24 hours, Chennai managed to receive 23 mm rains, Palayamkottai 46 mm, Tondi 10 mm, Parangipettai 39 mm, Karaikal 25 mm and Cuddalore received 26 mm rains.
Moreover, the Northeast Monsoon is set to become subdued once again over the region. During the next 24 hours, we expect light scattered rains over Tamil Nadu with one or two moderate spells mainly over the southern coastal districts. The interior districts will only get light rains at a few places.
These subdued Monsoon activities will continue until November 26. Thereafter, the Monsoon surge will once again get activated around November 27. During that time, fairly widespread rain and thundershower activities are likely over Tamil Nadu. Moderate spells with one or two heavy spells are likely. Chennai may also receive one or two moderate or heavy spells during this time. These rains will continue until November 29. Many other parts of Kerala, South Karnataka and South Andhra Pradesh will also receive good rains during that time.
Northeast Monsoon remained active over South India throughout the month of October. Moreover, during this time multiple states were observing above-average rains. However, the first half of November brought about a halt in rains and most parts remained dry during this time. Tamil Nadu and Chennai remained dry as well. Although, rains once again picked up pace around November 14 before becoming subdued again.
