Its been raining over the hills of North India for the last few days. The reason behind this is the presence of a fresh Western Disturbance over Jammu and Kashmir.
Already snowfall activities took place in the upper reaches of Jammu and Kashmir as well as Himachal Pradesh. Fairly widespread rains were seen over the Western Himalayas yesterday. We did not see any heavy snowfall during this rain episode. However, one or two intense spells of rains were experienced. Isolated hailstorm activities were also recorded over lower regions. These rains are further expected to continue for the coming 12 hours as well.
As per the forecast, the rain activities will continue until March 1 i.e. today. However, the intensity of rain and snow will start reducing over Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh and parts of Himachal Pradesh today. These rains will specifically affect the eastern parts of Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand.
So, this spell will not bring any major disruption to the normal day to day life. We expect the entire hilly region to go dry once again by today evening. Following these rains, the maximum temperatures will start rising once again.
