After Cyclone Kyarr, second cyclonic storm of the season is brewing in Bay of Bengal. The system is presently seen as a Low Pressure Area over Southwest Bay of Bengal off south Sri Lanka coast.

According to Skymet Weather, the system is likely to intensify further while moving in northwest direction towards Comorin region and nearby areas. It would further strengthen into a depression in next 24-48 hours and by that time, it would have reached southeast Arabian Sea & adjoining Lakshadweep-Maldives areas.

As reiterated, Indian seas have been active state for long now. Thus, chances are very much bright for the system to transform it a tropical storm. If it forms, it would be named as 'Cyclone Maha'.

However, the system would most likely to track the similar route followed by Cyclone Kyarr. The likely cyclonic storm would also move in westwards direction towards Yemen or Oman coast.

It may not be directly threatening the Indian coast, but the system during its journey would give heavy to very heavy rains over Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Rayalaseema and South Interior Karnataka from October 29-31. In fact, Lakshadweep Islands would see extremely heavy spells during this time span.

Chennai along with Bengaluru could also see some moderate rains with isolated intense spells.
