Mumbai witnessed three-digit rainfall for two consecutive days on June 30 and July 1st. Rain activities were reduced on Saturday. There were a few short intense spells of rain across Mumbai and suburbs, but overall intensity of rain reduced. Despite heavy rainfall, the lakes which are responsible for supplying water to Mumbai did not see any significant increase in water levels.

Rain activities will remain subdued on Sunday as well. There may be a marginal increase in rain intensity over parts of Mumbai. A low-pressure area is developing over Odisha coast. This low-pressure area will move across Central parts of the country leading to increase in rainfall over south Chhattisgarh, South Madhya Pradesh, Vidarba, north Madhya Maharashtra and parts of South Gujarat.

Impact of this weather system will be felt by Mumbai as well. Moderate showers with isolated short intense spells cannot be ruled out. There may be substantial increase in rain from July 6th. Moderate to heavy showers may continue until July 10, leading to traffic jams and water logging at many parts of Mumbai and suburbs. This rain spell may increase the water level of the lakes supplying water to Mumbai.
