Angul recorded 11°C as the minimum temperature which is 5 degrees below normal while, Sambalpur and Titlagarh saw minimums drop by 5°C and 7°C to settle at 10.4 and 10°C respectively.
According to our meteorologists, these places are experiencing dry and cool northwesterly winds from the sub-Himalayan West Bengal and adjoining Himalayan areas of east Uttar Pradesh and Bihar.
It is not only the night temperatures but the day temperatures have also begun to cause inconvenience to the people in these places. The maximum temperatures are approaching mid-thirties at some places in Odisha. For instance Angul recorded a maximum of 33.7°C on Tuesday which is 5 degrees above normal.
Skies are remaining clear due to lack of a weather system in the nearby sea which is facilitating more surface heating under longer daytime. According to our meteorologists, these conditions will keep the day temperatures about the same range in the coming two days. As far as night temperatures are concerned, they will remain in the same range until and unless a weather system possibly a Western Disturbance does not reach over east India to stop the northwesterly winds.
