Delhi rains have become a common affair this season. In fact, the month of February has been a good one for the national capital in terms of rains with the city already surpassing its monthly mean in less than a month. Rainy days have also been more than normal.
The city saw some good spells of rains yesterday and the day before as well. Today, a slight threat of rains remains with the possibility of some showers during the afternoon hours. However, rainfall will take a backseat tomorrow and weather will remain dry for another day or two. During that time, sunny days may appear with a little bit of clouding.
Minimum temperatures
Talking about temperatures, the city has been seeing double digit minimums, which have also been above normal for the past three days. However, from 13.9 degrees Celsius, minimums have dropped down to 11.3 degrees today.
For the next couple of days, minimums will see a drop and will come down to normal and may fall to 9 degrees also due to the presence of northwesterly winds.
Rain Forecast
Talking about rainfall activities, seems like Delhi rains have not seen their end yet. A Western Disturbance is likely to approach the Western Himalayas around February 17 and will induce a Cyclonic Circulation over the Northern Plains.
Thus, starting February 18, Delhi will be witnessing a prolonged spell of on and off rain and thundershowers until February 23. Rains are not likely to be intense and widespread on all the days but may occur in patches.
Midweek, around February 20, rains may be intense with the possibility of hailstorm activity as well. During the next week, reversal of winds will once again take place which will result in the increase of minimum temperatures and drop in maximums to some extent. Along with this, upcoming rains may also keep pollution levels on the lower side only.
