After a short break, rain in Northeast India to reappear around March 4

Northeast India has been seeing some rainfall activities for the past few days. Moreover, rainfall activity was widespread and moderate in nature in the last 24 hours with double digit rainfall being observed over many areas.

In the last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Thursday, Lumding saw 28 mm of rains, Pasighat 28 mm, Agartala 25 mm, Rangia 25 mm, Cherrapunji 22 mm, Kohima 22 mm, Kailashahar 12 mm, Barapani 12 mm, and Langpui 8 mm.

Now, for another 24 hours, scattered rainfall is likely to continue over Northeast India, particularly over East Assam and Arunachal Pradesh. Thereafter, weather is likely to become dry and rains will not be seen until March 3.

Sky will be clear with bright sunshine making an appearance. Maximum temperatures will rise.

Thereafter, the Western Disturbance which is affecting the Northern Himalayas at present, will move along the foothills towards Northeast India.

Therefore, rains will once again make their appearance over Assam, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh and other parts of Northeast India around March 4. Rainfall intensity will increase on March 5 and 6. During that time, a Cyclonic Circulation will form over Bangladesh and adjoining areas also. Humid winds from Bay of Bengal will also feed moisture over the region.

These rains will continue until March 7. Thereafter, rainfall intensity will reduce.

Nagaland will also see some rainfall activity. Weather activity is likely to be more over Arunachal Pradesh, and Assam. Meanwhile, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura as well as Meghalaya may see some lesser rains.
