After a short break: Monsoon over North India Braces for Revival

We expect monsoon rain to dip over northern and eastern plains of the country. After a two-day break, the monsoon gears up for a triumphant return across the Indo-Gangetic plains. This revival will drive by a developing cyclonic circulation over south Madhya Pradesh and adjoining Vidarbha. The monsoon trough's axis, a key atmospheric feature influencing rainfall, is also shifting towards central India.

While this shift brings a surge in rain activity to Maharashtra, west Madhya Pradesh, south Chhattisgarh, and parts of Telangana, several areas in North India will experience a temporary dip in rainfall. This includes Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, and Delhi, which can expect drier conditions until July 10th.

However, residents in these regions needn't worry for long. By July 11th, the monsoon trough's axis will embark on a northward journey, reigniting monsoon activity across the Indo-Gangetic plains. This shift promises a return of heavy rainfall for many districts of Uttar Pradesh and the northern parts of Bihar between July 11th and 13th. Lighter to moderate showers are also expected to bring relief to Punjab, Haryana, and parts of Uttarakhand.

The upcoming week holds the promise of surplus rainfall across the country. While the focus of the downpour will shift from central to north India, overall precipitation is likely to remain above average. So, for those in North India, get ready to unfurl your umbrellas – a wet week awaits!
