After providing a much-needed respite to the Delhiites from the scorching summer heat, the rains have once again said goodbye to Delhi-NCR. These showers made the weather conditions extremely pleasant forcing people to step out of their homes and enjoy the spells.

In fact, on Monday, the maximum temperature recorded by the Safdarjung Observatory in Delhi stands at 11 notches below the normal at 29.4°C. Similarly the Palam observatory also witnessed the daytime high resting at 31.2°C which was 9 degrees below the normal. May 22 can be termed as the coolest day of the season this year.

However, as per Skymet Weather, the temperatures across Delhi and NCR is likely to scale up marginally by 2-3 degrees once again and reach the near normal levels. Though, due to the persistent moisture content, isolated thundery activities are possible to occur on Tuesday night as well.

The reason for these recent spells can be attributed to a trough that was running along the national capital. However, now it has become less marked and is passing through the north of Delhi. But an induced cyclonic circulation can still be marked over Punjab and adjoining regions.

On account of both these weather systems, rains will take a backseat and dry weather will once again start prevailing over the national capital and adjoining regions. However, after taking a short break, another spell of rain activities with dust storm and a thunderstorm is likely to show up in Delhi and NCR around May 28. Hence, after a few more scorching days, Delhiites will once again witness pleasant weather conditions as temperatures will drop again.
