These on and off activity in the form of rain and thundershower is expected to continue for at least another 24 hours after which the present Western Disturbance will soon move away with its induced Cyclonic Circulation also dissipating. By May 18 the weather in Delhi and its adjoining areas will clear up. May 18, 19 and 20 will be rather sunny in the city in the absence of any weather system.
A rise in day temperature is expected in the region between May 18 and 20 when the mercury may shoot up to 39 or 40 degrees Celsius at times.
However, another Western Disturbance will affect the Himalayas on May 21, inducing a fresh Cyclonic Circulation over western Rajasthan. This system will bring about isolated thunder storm and light rains over the city beginning May 21 up to May 23.
It is quite noteworthy that this year dust storm activities have been minimal over the region as temperatures were not very high. Delhi saw some not-so-intense dust storm activity initially when the first spell of pre-Monsoon activity commenced over the city, with wind speed reaching up to 50-60 kmph. But since then the region saw no significant dust storm. Now that the temperatures have subsided we do not expect any dust storm activity in Delhi as of now.
