Considered to be one of the premier air shows of Asia, the 10th edition of the Aero India took off in Bangalore on Wednesday. The biennial five-day international edition of the aerospace and aviation exhibition is going to be the largest that India has seen so far. According to media reports over 300 aviation industries from across the world will take part in the exhibition and jostle for business opportunities in the burgeoning multi-billion dollar Indian defence market.

The air show being held at the Yelahanka airport is not only a business opportunity for foreign and Indian companies in the defence sector but it is also a visual treat for the public in general. Six aero teams including the Indian Air Force’s (IAF’s) Sarang helicopter team will take part in the event. The other five participating teams are the Swedish Air Force team, Aero Superbatics (UK), Airborne Services Ltd (UK), Flying Bulls (Czechoslovakia), and the US Special Forces.

About 33 countries are taking part in this event, with USA, France, UK, Russia, Israel and Germany being the main participating countries. USA will have the largest contingent (64 companies) followed by France (58) and UK (48).

Why Bangalore for aero show?

Aero shows usually require ideal weather conditions for flying and the weather in Bangalore during this time of the year is absolutely perfect to hold such kinds of events. The average day temperature settles around 30°C, while the minimum records close to 17°C. The city does not observe any fog or mist and the sky is generally clear making maneuvering in the sky much easier.
