The Northeast Monsoon has been seeing active conditions for the past few days and good showers have been recorded over many parts. In fact, good rains in the last 24 hours were also seen over many parts.
During the last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Wednesday, Chennai recorded 79 mm of rains, Karaikal 79 mm, Parangipettai 39 mm, Nellore 31 mm, Kavali 28 mm, Thanjavur 18 mm etc.
Now also, parts of Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal are expected to see some intense showers. Meanwhile, rainfall will be lesser in the state of Kerala. On the other hand, the least rains will be seen over South Interior Karnataka. These showers will be seen for at least the next four to five days.
With these rains over the Southern Peninsula, the Pan India deficiency from October 1 was earlier at 30 percent and has now come down to 20 percent. In fact, unseasonal rains have been seen over parts of Central India as well.
