At this juncture, the rain activity recorded from 08:30 am on Monday, Itanagar saw heavy rains to the tune of 47 mm, Kohima 43 mm, Golaghat 38 mm, Pasighat 34 mm, Cherrapunji 29 mm, Dibrugarh 23 mm, Mazbat 23 mm, Goalpara 18 mm, Tinsukia 18 mm, Lumding 15 mm, North Lakhimpur 14 mm, Lengpui 13 mm, Jorhat 9 mm, Aizawl 9 mm and Silchar 7 mm.

Now, the weatherman at Skymet Weather anticipates moderate to heavy rains with one or two very heavy spells to persist over Assam, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh and Nagaland for at least the next two to three days.

However, the rains over Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura would remain less in intensity in comparison to rest states of Northeast India.

The reason for the showers could be attributed to the eastward extension of the trough from the low pressure area over the central parts of Uttar Pradesh up to Assam.

As on July 30, Arunachal Pradesh stands rain deficit by 37%, Assam and Meghalaya 34% and Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura by 25%.
