Rain in Kerala

The timely onset of Southwest Monsoon 2017 over Kerela on May 30 has brought liveliness to the state, with several districts of the state recording showers of varied intensity. From isolated rainy spells to heavy showers, many districts of Kerala and Karnataka witnessed good rains during the last 48 hours.

In the last 24 hours from 08:30 am on Wednesday, Cochin received 56 mm of rain, Alappuzha 18 mm, Kozhikode 24 mm and Punalur 24 mm.

According to Skymet Weather, Monsoon continues to be active over the region. With this, an offshore trough is seen extending from North West Arabian Sea to Kerala coast. Therefore, we expect good rains to continue over Kerala and coastal parts of Karnataka.

However, the intensity of rain over interior parts of Karnataka will remain subdued. In the wake of ongoing rains, we expect Monsoon to cover entire Kerala and some parts of South Karnataka in the next two to three days.

According to Skymet weather, the intensity of rain will increase over Interior Karnataka by June 3. In wake of this, temperatures over most parts of Kerala and Coastal Karnataka have decreased and weather has already become pleasant.

We expect the temperature to fall further over interior parts as well in the next two to three days. These weather activities are a result of the timely and good start of Monsoon over Kerala.
