Active Monsoon conditions triggered moderate to heavy rains over Kerala as well as Coastal Karnataka. In the last 24 hours from 08:30 am on Wednesday, Shirali recorded 156 mm of rain, followed by Karwar 131 mm, Mangaluru 86 mm and Honavar 51 mm.
Meanwhile, talking about the interior parts of Karnataka, weather activities in this area remained subdued during the last 24 hours.
Not only this, Monsoon 2019 covered entire Coastal Karnataka and entered into parts of Interior Karnataka on Thursday. However, Bengaluru would still have to wait for some more days for the arrival of Monsoon.
As per weathermen, this increased intensity of rains has been associated with Monsoon’s further advancement into some more parts of Central Arabian Sea, remaining parts of Coastal Karnataka, some parts of South Konkan & Goa, South Madhya Maharashtra and few parts of Interior Karnataka.
The Northern Limit of Monsoon (NLM) is now passing through Ratnagiri, Kolhapur, Shivamogga, Salem, Cuddalore, Kolkata and Gangtok and Lat. 28°N/Long. 88°E.
Further, we expect, rainfall activities to continue and many parts of Coastal Karnataka ad Kerala will witness heavy to very heavy rains.
The main reason for these intense rains will be the enhanced Monsoon surge over the West Coast as well as influence of a Low-Pressure Area which is likely to start affecting Andhra Pradesh and Telangana soon.
