State of Rajasthan is likely to have active monsoon conditions for the next 4-5 days. All parts of the state are expected to have moderate to heavy rain and thundershowers, in a staggered manner. Eastern half of the state will be the chief beneficiary and the western half will suffice with 24hr of intense activity on 23rdJuly. Both sub divisions of the state are already surplus and will increase their margin with the upcoming wet spell.
Monsoon trough is running near to its normal position and is very close to Ganganagar and Suratgarh. Trough is likely to hold position for the next 48hr and shift southward thereafter. The east-west oriented trough will still pass through the central and southern parts of the state on 23rd and 24thJuly.The oscillation of the trough will keep the state under active monsoon conditions between 21st and 24thJuly. Remnant of the system will keep lashing the state with sporadic showers even later, as the semi permanent feature for the state will again have a tendency to drift northward.
Some pockets over the northeastern and eastern parts of the state have experienced scattered showers. Capital city Jaipur and Churu, Sikar, Bhilwara, Kota and Bundi have witnessed light to moderate showers. Today and tomorrow, more showers are expected over Ganganagar, Suratgarh, Hanumangarh, Anupgarh, Alwar, Jhunjhunu, Bharatpur, Dholpur, Jaipur, Ajmer, Kota, Bundi, Baran and Jhalawar. On 23rdJuly, most parts of the state will be lashed by moderate showers, including the far flung posts like Phalodi, Jodhpur, Bikaner, Jaisalmer and Barmer. Subsequently, on 24thJuly, the trough will get located over the border areas of the state with Gujarat. The southern districts like Udaipur, Sirohi, Chittorgarh, Jalore, Dungarpur, Pratapgarh and Banaswara can expect heavy to moderate rainfall and light activity elsewhere over the state.
Sub division of West and East Rajasthan are already surplus with 79% and 35% seasonal rainfall between 01stJune to 20thJuly. This wet spell will further increase the margin of surplus. Caution need to be exercised for some heavy rainfall over the arid zone of South and West Rajasthan on 23rd and 24thJuly 2022.
