Monsoon remained active over most parts of Maharashtra during the last 24 hours. Almost all the districts of the state observed rain and thundershower activities.

Rains were quite heavy over Vidarbha, North Madhya Maharashtra and in isolated pockets of Marathwada, while light to moderate in intensity over Konkan and Goa.

The city of Pune recorded the heavy downpour of this season at 90 mm in a span of 21 hours and was severely water-logged. Meanwhile, Mumbai rains were light in nature.

Talking about the rainfall data of other cities, Nagpur recorded 48 mm of rainfall, followed by Dahanu 47 mm, Washim 44 mm and Nashik 36 mm in a span of 21 hours from 8:30 am on Wednesday.

At present, a Cyclonic Circulation is over Maharashtra coast and a Trough is extending from South Gujarat up to this system.

Due to the presence of this system, the meteorologists at Skymet have predicted a few good spells of rain over Vidarbha and Madhya Maharashtra. The same system would give scattered rains over Konkan and Goa and Marathwada as well for next 24 hours.

Places like Jalgaon, Akola, Nagpur, Nashik, Dahanu, and Gondia would get to see good rain and thundershower activities for another 24 hours.

Mumbai may receive one or two odd moderate spells of rain until tomorrow. Thereafter, the weather will become almost clear with sultry conditions. Likewise, rains would remain on the lower side over Pune now onwards. However, some parts of Vidarbha may continue to get patchy showers until September 28.
