Active monsoon conditions to continue over Northeast India

Monsoon has covered the northeastern parts of the country as well as parts of some areas of Sub Himalayan West Bengal well before time. Except Manipur and Mizoram, Monsoon rains are so far satisfactory over these States.

Normal or active monsoon conditions are expected to continue over Assam, Meghalaya, and Arunachal Pradesh during the next two to three days. Thereafter, rain activities may intensify over remaining parts of Northeast India also.

A Cyclonic circulation is over Northwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining areas and moderate commitments from Bay of Bengal after reading posture over Northeast India. East west trough is also extending from Eastern part of Uttar Pradesh to Nagaland. In the wake of all these weather parameters, we expect next one week to remain rainy for Northeast India. By the end of next week, Northeast India may become rain surplus.

Northeast India has recorded heavy pre monsoon showers in the month of April leading to widespread flooding in Assam and landslide and mudslide in parts of Meghalaya and Arunachal Pradesh.
