Pan India rainfall between June 1 and August 27 is deficient by 10%. Only one region that is south peninsula is surplus wife 4%. Central India is deficient by 14%, Northwest by 13% and east and Northeast India is deficient by 9%.
Last 2 to 3 days moderate to heavy rain is going on over Kerala and coastal Karnataka as well as parts of Tamil Nadu. Cyclonic circulation was persisting over southeast Arabian Sea of Kerala coast along with an offshore trough which is extending from Karnataka coast to Kerala coast. A low-pressure area has also formed over Northwest and adjoining West Central Bay of Bengal off south Odisha and North Andhra Pradesh coast. These weather systems have activated the monsoon search over Kerala and coastal Karnataka as well as over Tamil Nadu. Rain activities have also intensified over coastal Andhra Pradesh.
We expect moderate to heavy rains to continue over Kerala, coastal Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, south interior Karnataka, and coastal Andhra Pradesh for another 24 to 48 hours. Thereafter, rain activities may subside over these States. Telangana may receive intense showers until august 31st. Albeit, the rain activities may reduce over South Peninsula in the first week of September, but weather will not go completely dry.
The low-pressure area will move in a westerly direction towards Vidarbha. Cyclonic circulation over southeast Arabian sea is weakening and off shore trough will also fade away leading to weak monsoon conditions.
