State of Maharashtra is up against moderate to heavy rains coming up over Vidarbha, Marathwada and Madhya Maharashtra. Many places in Vidarbha and some places in North Marathwada and North Madhya Maharashtra run the risk of heavy rain and thundershowers on 2 days, during this week.
Low-pressure area has moved inland over Odisha and Chhattisgarh. The system has dragged the monsoon trough south of its normal position at a height of 5000’. Turning of winds and confluence zone will get placed far ahead of the system and run through Vidarbha, North Marathwada and North Madhya Maharashtra. All the 3 land locked sub divisions of Maharashtra are in excess of seasonal rainfall by a margin of over 30%. This wet spell add further to the surplus, more so far Vidarbha.
Bhandara, Chandrapur, Nagpur, Gondia and Wardha are likely to have rain and thundershowers on 21stSep. The rain belt will extend further to reach Amravati, Akola, Jalna, Aurangabad, Dhule, Jalgaon and Nandurbar, the next day on 22ndSep. Significant rains will vacate the entire region on 23rdSep and only cloudy sky with light drizzle is likely for the subsequent 48hr.
