Parts of Madhya Maharashtra have been under the influence of dry and warm weather for quite some time now. In fact, the coastal city Mumbai too was gripped under heatwave conditions when the city recorded a maximum of 38.8°C on February 19 against the average of 31.2°C.
At present, dry easterly and northwesterly winds are prevailing over the interior parts of Maharashtra. As these winds are warm and little moist in nature, they have resulted in the temperatures across most parts of the interior Maharashtra to increase significantly.
The day temperatures in many parts of the state observed an increase by two to three degrees. In fact, the last 24 hours were extremely warm for a few parts of Madhya Maharashtra. During the last 24 hours, Malegaon recorded a maximum of whopping 41°C which is 7 notches above the normal levels.
As per Skymet Weather, the heatwave condition is expected to continue prevailing over Malegaon and adjoining areas. Due to the easterlies, the situation is likely to remain the same until the next 24 hours, gradually dropping thereafter.
As a trough which is close to the coast is likely to develop over the interior regions of the state, it will lead to a drop in temperatures. Meanwhile, the heatwave conditions along the coast have already reduced.
