After tasting a bite of pleasantly cool weather and season’s lowest minimum temperatures, Pune, Mumbai and other parts of Maharashtra are expected to witness above normal temperatures for next few days. In coming days, weather in Mumbai is likely to comprise of hot days, resulting in slight discomfort during the day.

Normally temperature over most parts of Maharashtra remain below 30°C during this time of the year. However, they are settling in mid 30s and some of the cities are witnessing temperatures settle 4-6 degrees above normal.

According to meteorologists at Skymet Weather, presently Maharashtra is witnessing hot day conditions as temperatures are settling 5-6 degrees above than the normal. This fluctuation in temperatures across Maharashtra has been caused by the anti- cyclonic circulation present over Rajasthan.

Earlier, the northerly winds from hilly states of North India were reaching up to Madhya Maharashtra across Punjab and Haryana and Mumbai, Pune, Nashik along with few other cities were experiencing pleasant weather. However, the anticyclonic circulation obstructed the flow of icy winds over to Maharashtra, leading in an increase in temperature over these cities. Due to this weather system, moist and warmer winds from the Arabian Sea started flowing over entire Northwest India including Delhi, Punjab and Maharashtra.

The anticyclone has now shifted to Madhya Pradesh and the cold northerly winds are not expected to reach Central India and Maharashtra anytime soon. In wake of this, temperatures are likely to remain above normal for another 4-5 days.
