The situation is grim in Assam and we expect more rains in the offing. No relief is likely as Skymet Weather predicts more heavy showers in Assam and other states of Northeast India, at least till July 20.

According to the Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA), homes and fields have been submerged by the swelling waters of the Brahmaputra River and its tributaries in the districts of Lakhimpur, Golaghat, Morigaon, Jorhat, Dhemaji and Biswanath.

Relief camps have been set up by the district authorities in Jorhat and Golaghat districts, where about  four thousand flood-hit people have taken shelter so far.
