Summer goes rogue as heatwave has gripped almost the entire Northwest India. Regions like Punjab and West Rajasthan are witnessing severe heatwave conditions. Meanwhile, heatwave has continued to grip most parts of Rajasthan as well as parts of Haryana, Delhi, Southwest Uttar Pradesh, along with central areas of West Madhya Pradesh and a few districts of Gujarat.
However, due to the commencement of Westerly and Southwesterly winds that are blowing from the Arabian Sea, temperatures have reduced in most parts of Gujarat thereby abating the heatwave conditions.
No relief from the ongoing rising temperatures is foreseen as of now but later this week, some rains are expected to show up in northwest India. As per Skymet Weather, a Western Disturbance is likely to affect the Western Himalayan region on April 21. On account of this system, scattered rains are expected to occur over Punjab and Haryana on April 22 or April 23 onwards.
Initially, the rain spread will be confined to these areas only but slowly and gradually, rains are likely to intensify and cover the other regions of northwest plains. Parts of Punjab, Haryana, and North Rajasthan including some parts of Delhi and NCR along with adjoining regions of Uttar Pradesh are expected to witness scattered rain and thundershowers between April 22 and April 25.
Though these rains will be scattered in nature, but are sure to bring long-awaited relief from the ongoing heatwave conditions.
