According to the latest weather update by Skymet’s Meteorological Division in India, weather in Delhi, Punjab and Haryana is likely to turn rainy and cloudy. But rain in Delhi and adjoining states is expected to occur late on Sunday night or early in the morning, allowing your Holi plans to take shape.

Our weathermen tell us that chances of a development of thunder clouds (cumulonimbus clouds) and the current Western Disturbance, which has already given snowfall in Jammu and Kashmir, is expected to give light rain in isolated pockets of the national capital Delhi, as well as in Punjab and Haryana.

“Currently it looks like rain could occur late at night today or early morning tomorrow. Rain could be good in isolated pockets of Delhi with wind speed exceeding 40 kmph”, says Mahesh Palawat of Skymet’s Meteorological Division in India.

“This is the usual pattern of rain in the month of March. Thunder clouds form suddenly and give good rain in a short span of time. Weather conditions are extremely windy and rain spells are short and sporadic. Thunderstorms and lightning are also common”, added Mahesh Palawat.

Till now Delhi has received around 28 mm of rain in the month of March. This is more than double the normal amount  of rain in Delhi (13 mm) in March.

Further forecast suggest, Holi will bid goodbye and hot days will make an entry in Delhi and North India, with maximums exceeding 32⁰C to 33⁰C in the coming days.

Early mornings and nights which were very cool till now, will become warmer. Maximums will settling between 15⁰C to 17⁰C.

Meanwhile, Holi may bring some good news for other parts of the country. Weather in South India, i.e. in the extreme southern parts of Kerala and Tamil Nadu are expected to receive light rain due to the mix up of dry and humid air masses.
