As per Skymet Weather, the reason for increased rainfall activities over the entertainment hub of the country can be associated with the offshore trough running from South Konkan to Coastal Karnataka. This trough which was inactive has become active once again thus resulting in good rains.

Skymet Weather further reiterates that these rains will continue to keep lashing the city until August 29. Thus, the weather during the auspicious Ganesh Chaturthi will stay rainy which may create chaos for Mumbaikars to celebrate the divine festival in full swing.
