You definitely must have come across those beautifully shot Amitabh Bachchan ads about the Rann! Well, the place is more than the ads.

The Rann of Kutch, also known as the Great Rann of Kutch is a remarkable place to visit in Gujarat. The place houses the world's largest salt desert, and people from far and wide come to witness the grandeur of this enormous stretch of packed white salt.

Winters (November-Feb) are the best time to visit Kutch, mainly because of the full moon nights as the reflection of the moonlight on the white sand turns the place into an absolute paradise.

Let’s give you a snapshot of the weather over this place-

Winters (November-February)

This is the time when the desert comes to life in its full glory. The days are hot but pleasant. The temperature tends to drop to single digits once the sun sets. The weather is more moderate and delightful. Winter is the best time to visit Kutch for another reason, and that is the Rann Utsav!  Temperature during this period ranges between 12°C to 25°C.

Summer (April-June)

The summer begins from the month of April and lasts till the month of June. Kutch is absolutely not an ideal place to visit during the summer season. It is furiously hot with day temperature soaring to touch 50°C at occasions during noon.

Monsoon (June-September)

The rains arrive in Kutch by the end of June and last all the way until September. Maximum day temperatures average around 35°C, whereas night temperatures remain around 25°C.

Things to do and places to be at Rann of Kutch

The Rann Utsav

Gujarat Tourism holds the famous Rann Ustav festival, annually which begins in November. Hundreds of luxury tents are set up for the visitors, along with rows of food and handicraft stalls. You can take a camel cart ride, drive across in an ATV, do rifle shooting, get yourself a spa treatment or witness a cultural show.

Apart from the Rann Utsav, you can go visit the Desert Wildlife Santuary, Dholavira, Kutch Museum and the Busturd Sanctuary.

The Rann very subtly has the capability to show you how insignificant you are in this world. Each and every place in the region will leave you feeling mesmerized!
