Moderate to dense fog gripped parts of the national capital region on Saturday that continued on a Sunday morning as well and dense to very dense fog in isolated pockets of Delhi and NCR was recorded.

As per Skymet Weather, Delhi and NCR are expected to brace for a foggy New Year’s Eve as the thick fog layer is anticipated to continue throughout the day. Thus, the hazy and misty weather is expected to prevail for the day, thickening further as the day will descend.

The fog layer is expected to thicken towards the late evening or night hours thereby muddling New Year’s Eve plan of the Delhiites. This thick or dense fog layer is expected to continue until the very first day of the next year as well.

Thus, people residing in Delhi and adjoining Noida, Gurugram, Ghaziabad are likely to celebrate New Year’s Eve amidst a foggy night.

Skymet Weather further reiterates that a Western Disturbance is over the Western Himalayan region and a cyclonic circulation is over northwest Uttar Pradesh and Haryana in the lower levels. Moreover, the wind speed is also light along with the temperatures too settling on a lower side. The humidity levels are also high.

In addition to this, temperature inversion which means temperature increasing with the height, which is the reversal to the normal behavior of the temperatures is also taking place.

All these factors are the pre-conditions for the formation of a thick layer of fog which is at present the case in Delhi and NCR. Such foggy weather is sure to affect air, rail and road traffic. Thus, Delhiites can brace for a foggy New Year's Eve.
