Rain in East Uttar Pradesh is in the normal category with deficiency of 16%, while West Uttar Pradesh is rain deficient by 29% as the state has not received any significant rainfall activity.
Since last two to three days, on and off rainfall activities have been witnessed in East Uttar Pradesh and West Uttar Pradesh.
In a span of 24 hours from 08:30 am on Monday, moderate to heavy rains occurred over the central parts of the state. Places like Lucknow and Fatehpur recorded 33 mm of rainfall each, Fursatganj recorded 44 mm, Hamirpur 12 mm, Kanpur 8 mm, Agoi 3 mm, Bahraich 6 mm, Jhansi 8 mm and Varanasi witnessed 3 mm of rain. Light rain was also seen in Agra and Gorakhpur.
During the next 24 hours, places like Lucknow, Rai Bareilly, Fatehpur, Sultanpur, Varanasi, Prayagraj and Faizabad in East Uttar Pradesh would witness good rains. Some places in West Uttar Pradesh like Agra, Mathura, Bareilly, Rampur, Meerut, and Bulandhshahr are expected to record light rain.
Until September 26, scattered rains are possible in East Uttar Pradesh. The rainfall activities will pick up pace from September 27 or September 28. There would be a few heavy spells of rain during this period.
