An earthquake measuring 3.8 on the Richter scale has jolted the hilly state of Himachal Pradesh during the wee hours of Thursday. Quake was of mild intensity, hence, no casualties to life and property have been reported so far.
The epicenter of the temblor was zeroed at Chamba region in Himachal Pradesh.
As per the United States Geological Survey (USGS), tremors were felt on early Thursday morning at around 1:39 am when the locals were deep in their sleep. The sudden shaking of the earth did force a few to walk out of their homes.
This was the second earthquake recorded in Chamba in less than a month. A similar mild earthquake was recorded on February 4 in the same region.
As per the weatherman at Skymet Weather, Chamba is situated at the seismic zone 4 and is prone to earthquakes. However, a mild earthquake like this does not cause any structural or human damages.
Yesterday also, a moderate intensity earthquake of 5.3 on the Richter scale had hit our neighbouring country of Pakistan that also falls in the similar seismic zone.
