Twenty one unnamed islands in the Andaman and Nicobar island groups in the Bay of Bengal were named after the gallantry award winners of the Param Vir Chakra, which is the highest military decoration in India. It means the 'wheel of the ultimate brave'. The names of the islands were given on January 23, which is the birth anniversary of Subhas Chandra Bose also known as 'Parakram Diwas'. In 2018, Modi had renamed the Ross Island, Neil Island and Havelock Islands to Subhash Chandra Bose Islands, Shaheed Dweep Island and Swaraj Island, respectively.

Talking about their weather through the year over these islands, due to their proximity to the equator there is very little variation in the weather pattern throughout the year. For almost 9 months, the region does receive rainfall activity with the most amount of rainfall being observed between May and September and the least rainy period being the month of February.

As far as the maximum and minimum temperatures are concerned, the former is usually around the low 30s and the latter is usually in its mid-20s around the year. Moreover, humidity remains on the high for almost the entire year. No hailstorm is witnessed over these areas. High humidity results sometimes in sea fog.
