2022 to begin on a snowy note for hills of North India, rains to follow for the plains

December 31, 2021 3:43 PM |

The Northern Plains as well as hills of North India are expected to have a quiet end to year 2021. However, the New Year will have a snowy and a rainy beginning very soon as a feeble Western Disturbance will start affecting the hills of North India by tomorrow itself.

This system will not have any significant effect over the plains but the hills will see snowfall including all the hilly states of Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Ladakh and Uttarakhand.

Thereafter, around January 4, another Western Disturbance will make an appearance over the Western Himalayas, which will be stronger in intensity. Thus, heavy rain and snow are expected over the hills of North India.

This system will also induce a Cyclonic Circulation over the plains resulting in rainfall activities over Delhi, Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, West Uttar Pradesh even going up to Madhya Pradesh and Gujarat.

With the effect of these systems, cold wave conditions will also abate the Northern Plains after 48 hours.
