Winters (October to March)
Winters in Srinagar records really low temperatures with the lowest going below 0° C and the highest temperature being just at 15°C. During this time of the year, the city also experiences heavy snowfall. The city faces frequent snowfall, and this is the time when the highway to the rest of the country can be blocked due to icy roads, landslides and avalanches.
Things to do and Places to visit at Srinagar
The place houses some amazing and well-manicured gardens such as the Shalimar Bagh, which Mughal Emperor Jehangir built for his wife in 1619. Next, you can also visit Nishat Garden. Another highlight of a trip to Srinagar is boating around on the Dal Lake, where more than 1,000 beautiful houseboats can be seen floating.
Next up you can roam around the wooden old city which is also a house to many important mosques. Go checking out handicrafts – Srinagar is where the famous Cashmere (Pashmina) shawls emerge from.
