Fascinating, historical Jaipur, Rajasthan's capital, is the gateway to India's most exuberant state. It evokes the royal family that once ruled the region and founded what is now called the Old City, or “Pink City” for its trademark building colour.
Jaipur is a major tourist attraction amongst Indian as well as international travellers. It hosts several attractions like the City palace, Hawa mahal, Jantar Mantar, Isarlat, Central Museum, Maharaja Sawai Man Singh Museum, Royal Gaitor and Nahargarh.
Seasons
Jaipur is situated in an arid, semi-desert region, which has three distinct seasons; a warm dry winter, an unbearably hot spring/summer and a brief but intense monsoon season. Unsurprisingly the best season to visit Jaipur is during the winter months.
Summer season [March – July]
The weather is the most crucial factor when deciding to visit Jaipur. Do not consider visiting Jaipur during the long hot summer when the maximum temperatures can reach in excess of 45°C. This intense heat combined with the dust and pollution makes Jaipur unbearable.
Monsoon season [July – October]
As the moist air cools above the land, dense clouds are created and bring in the Monsoon rains. The change in wind direction indicates the start of the Monsoon season (July) for Jaipur and northern India. Unlike many other Indian regions, the Monsoon rains in Jaipur happens late in the day, which allows the visitors to explore the city during the early part of the day. Rajasthan is possibly the best region of India to visit during the Monsoon season.
Winter season [November – February]
The winter season is the best time of the year to visit Jaipur as the weather is dry, warm and sunny. In the middle of winter Jaipur has cool evenings, with temperatures dropping to settle around 5°C. It often surprises visitors as they may need something warm to keep themselves cozy.
