As expected, unseasonal rains lashed the states of Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh during the past 24 hours. Prayagraj, Fursatganj, Varanasi, Banda, Ghazipur in Uttar Pradesh and Sidhi, Umaria, and Jabalpur in Madhya Pradesh received moderate winter showers. Light rains spilt over to parts of Bihar, Jharkhand and Chhattisgarh, as well. More rains are likely but the belt of decent showers will move eastward and largely affect Bihar, Jharkhand and West Bengal.
Rains will continue today over Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh. Rain and thundershowers will be more assertive over and near the meeting boundaries of Madhya Pradesh Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Jharkhand. Tomorrow the activity will reduce or rather go minimal for UP & MP. Scattered rain and thundershowers are likely over Bihar, Jharkhand and North Bengal. Spread and intensity will reduce, a day later, on 15th Feb. Unseasonal weather activity will exit the area on 16th Feb and a broader clearance is expected from 17th Feb onward.
An in-situ cyclonic circulation has come up over North Gujarat and neighbourhood, since yesterday. An east–west trough from the system is extending up to West Bengal, cutting across Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Bihar and Jharkhand. A dislocated anticyclone over the Northwest Bay of Bengal is fueling moisture and triggering the airmass convergence. Unseasonal weather activity may have some freak hailstorms and lightning strikes, as well. Rain and showers are welcome for the region but hailstorm activity and strong gusty winds are not desired by the farmer. Caution needs to be exercised while working in the fields, not getting exposed to lightning storms. Strong gusty winds, accompanied by hailstorms and heavy rains are least welcome for the standing crops. Unseasonal weather activity will vacate the region on 16th Feb and fair weather conditions are expected for the subsequent one week or even longer.
