Gujarat is the favourite state during pre monsoon for heat wave conditions.  These conditions get frequented, sometime in March itself and more prominently from April onward.  Incidentally, Gujarat was the  state to record first 40°C of this season. During this week also, Saurashtra & Kutch and North Gujarat witnessed heat wave conditions, albeit for short duration.

Ahmedabad recorded high of 41.5°C on 10thApril, the highest of this season so far.  Even Rajkot in Saurashtra breached 42°C mark on 09thApril.  The city recorded hattrick of 41°C or more between 08th and 10thApril.  Bhuj in Kutch region,  has been exceeding 41°C mark for the last 4 days with a highest of 41.7°C on 08thApril.  The temperatures are expected to rise across the region during next week.

An active western disturbance is moving across northern hills. Also, rain and thundershowers in the plains of north India are likely on 12th, 13th, 14th , and 15th April.  Parts of Rajasthan will also have its share. Contiguous parts of Gujarat will have the ripple effect and the temperatures will remain contained over the next 3 days.  Change in the wind pattern may bring some clouds and light rain on the 14th and 15th April over and around Ahmedabad.  After the weather activity clears from North India, the wind pattern will reverse again.  Winds predominantly from the land will intrude over most parts of Saurashtra & Kutch and North Gujarat. The temperatures will once again breach the 40°C mark at many places, including the capital city of Gandhinagar and Ahmedabad.  There are chances of heat weaves returning in some pockets of the state and the most vulnerable will be North & Central Gujarat and Saurashtra.
