Updated on June 14, 2015 4:35 PM (IST): Rain-hit Test ends in a draw

The only Test match between India and Bangladesh ended in a draw on Day 5. Players of both the teams shook hands with 15 overs left in the game. Bangladesh were dismissed in their first innings and were asked to follow on. But with only 30 overs in hand, Indian bowlers were always going to have a hard time securing a win which required them to take 10 wickets in just 30 overs.

Rain caused multiple interruptions during the course of the match. Day 1 saw some action but thereafter a lot of overs were lost due to consistent spells of rain. When the rain stopped, ground conditions did not allow players to take field. India were in a commanding position throughout the game and registered a big total in their first innings. The spin duo of Harbhajan and Ashwin came to the party as Bangladesh struggled to match the performance of their rivals in the first innings. But as predicted by Skymet Weather, rain had the last laugh and the match ended in a draw. The teams will now prepare for the upcoming ODI series which may also be marred by rain.

Updated on June 12, 2015 1:25 PM (IST): Rain delays play after Lunch, more rain in the offing

Day 3 brought good news for cricket fans as play started amidst cloudy conditions with short intervals of bright sunshine. Bangladesh made inroads claiming three wickets while India strengthened its position in the game. Murali Vijay completed his century while Dhawan fell short of his maiden double ton. Ajinkya Rahane and Vijay steadied the ship after a mini collapse.

But rain returned to haunt fans at the Khan Saheb Osman Ali Stadium and start of play was delayed after Lunch. Heavy clouding is seen over the region and more rain is expected as the day goes on. Simply speaking, more interruptions on account of rain can be expected. Forecast for Day 4 and 5 isn't encouraging either with heavy rain very much on the menu.

Updated on June 11, 2015 1:22 PM (IST): Second day's play has been called off due to rain

Play on Day 2 has been called off without a single ball being bowled. Earlier in the day, heavy rainfall delayed start of play. Umpires inspected the field when the rain turned into drizzle. But lake formations over covers were a clear indication that prepping the field would take a long time. Thus, second day's play was called off. Forecast for Day 3 isn't encouraging either. In fact, there's a good chance of rain on remaining days of the Test as well.

Updated on June 11, 2015 10:20 AM (IST): Rain delays start on Day 2, conditions remain grim

As predicted by Skymet Meteorology Division in India, rain showers led to curtailment of play on Day 1. Day 2 is yet to see any play as dark clouds with rain prevail over Fatullah Stadium. Chances of play on Day 2 are also bleak.

Monsoon has arrived in Bangladesh and it will only further strengthen its grip as the Test match goes on. Good rainfall has been recorded over Bangladesh and more rain is in the offing. Conditions are grim as visibility at Fatullah Stadium is also extremely low.

India is in complete control of the game with the openers providing an unbeaten stand of 239. While Dhawan has reached 150, Murali Vijay is cruising at 89. Even if rain stops for a while, a wet outfield will not allow players to take field. Additionally, by the time the ground staff gets the play area ready, rain is likely to return. Simply speaking, Monsoon may cause more than a single day's washout at Fatullah.

Threat of heavy rain in Bangladesh looms over cricket match

Updated on June 10, 2015 11:24 AM (IST): Monsoon rains halt opening day's play

As predicted by Skymet Meteorology Division in India, heavy Monsoon rains have halted the first day’s play in the one-off cricket Test match between India and Bangladesh.

The bilateral series is being played in Fatullah in Central Bangladesh, which is expected to witness some more spells of heavy rain during next 48 hours.

Before rain had interrupted the match, India was 107 for no loss in 23.3 overs. Openers Shikhar Dhawan and Murali Vijay was at 74 and 33, respectively.

Updated on June 9, 2015 8:24 PM (IST): Monsoon rains may play spoilsport

India is all set to take on Bangladesh in the first Test match of the bilateral series in Fatullah on Tuesday. After the adrenaline rush of the Indian Premier League, cricket fanatics are gearing up for some old school Test cricket action. But rain scare looms large over the Test match as Southwest Monsoon has already entered Bangladesh.

As of now, Southwest Monsoon has covered eastern parts of Bangladesh. It is expected to cover remaining parts of the country in the next 4 to 5 days. Fatullah lies in Central Bangladesh which is expected to receive rainfall activity in the coming days.

Although Day 1 may escape Monsoon rains, but remaining days are likely to be marred by rain. As the match goes on, a complete washout is also possible on certain days. The Test match will face several interruptions. Rain in the region gets intense during evening or at night. But continuous rain showers will dampen the pitch and slow down the outfield. More delay can be expected on this account.

As Monsoon advances across Bangladesh, it will lead to intensification of rainfall activity in most parts of the country. Fatullah is currently observing temperatures in the 30s but forecast suggests rain and thundershowers in coming days. Rain will affect play and thus Day 1 and 2 are of extreme importance, strategically.
