The kiwis have begun their tour of India which is scheduled until October 29. Currently, the New Zealand Team is touring India for playing three test matches which will be followed by five one day internationals (ODIs).

Both the teams have begun their first test match in Kanpur, which is also BCCI’s 500th test match. An array of former players as well as captains have graced their presence to mark the celebratory events. Weather Gods were also in favour of the match as conditions remained pleasant and dry.

The first day of the game has begun with India winning the toss and Captain Virat Kohli choosing to bat. The game had begun with much pomp and show as both KL Rahul and Murali Vijay had managed to get past the 10th over without losing a wicket. While Pujara and Ashwin along with Sharma weren’t half bad, it was the Kiwis who bounced back taking wickets after wickets during the second half of the game.

Captain Virat Kohli was able to score a mere 9 runs, while Rahane couldn’t perform wonders himself. The day has ended and India stands at 291 at the loss of 9 wickets. The first day was completed without any interruptions.

However, rain threat looms large over Kanpur as a cyclonic circulation persists over the western parts of Uttar Pradesh. A trough is also extending from the system up to the Punjab region. During the next 24 to 48 hours, the possibility of a few good spells of rain cannot be ruled out.

These rains are likely to occur during the morning hours, which may interfere with the progress of the game on both the second and the third day of the five day test match. Spectators may be slightly disappointed. These rains will turn in India’s favour or not, is something to look forward for.
