Guar Seed| Guar seed futures fell on reports of rains helping sowing in Rajasthan.

Guar seed futures fell on reports of rains helping sowing in Rajasthan, while low export demand and high old stocks supported the correction after adverse monsoon forecast kept them on a higher side last week. Guar seed trading may be volatile as monsoon i.e. June-September rain season could turn below average this year.

Turmeric| Turmeric futures ended down as crop damage fear from recent rains.

Turmeric futures ended down as crop damage fear from recent rains in main producing southern state of Andhra Pradesh eased. Lack of trading activities in various spot markets amid low demand due to ongoing elections in most parts of the country also hurt sentiment. Another warm day likely during eigth phase of Lok Sabha Elections

The eight phase of Lok Sabha Election polls saw the daughter of the Gandhi family campaigning extensively in Amethi for brother Rahul Gandhi. In this phase more than 900 candidates will be in fray in seven Indian states including Bharatiya Janata Party(BJP) leader Varun Gandhi contesting from neighbouring Sultanpuri, Shanta Kumar from Kangra in Himachal Pradesh and Lok Janashakti party President Ramvilas Paswan from Hajipur in Bihar.

Weather in India during polls

Andhra Pradesh- The Seemandhra area will not be affected by the cyclonic circulation over Comorin area in the Indian Ocean by Wednesday. This area including the hot belt of Kurnool, Anantapur and Tirupati will received rain only by the 8th or 9th of May. During the polls the coastal areas will be better off with maximums in mid-thirties but will definitely remain humid. The interiors could see temperatures rising to touch 40⁰C. High to medium clouds will cover the entire Seemandhra region.

Bihar and West Bengal- Widespread light to good amounts of rain brought some relief in Bengal and Bihar last week as temperatures came down by 6⁰C to 7⁰C. Maximums are on the rise now asrain has subsided. People in West Bengal and Bihar could face some discomfort at the polling booths as maximums might touch 40⁰C at some places.

Uttar Pradesh- Lok Sabha Election campaign in this politically crucial state, witnessed serious attacks and counter attacks. BJP Prime Ministerial candidate Narendra Modi invoked Lord Ram in Faizabad and said people want a change now in Amethi.

To restrict the Modi wave, Priyanka Gandhi stormed Amethi where she grabbed attention of the media and earned brownie points. Comparisons with her charismatic grandmother went on air. Temperatures are rising in east Uttar Pradesh as there was no rain in the last 24 hours. Rain has completely reduced and maximums will rise once again after the last week’s respite.

Jammu and Kashmir- According to the latest weather update by Skymet Meteorology Division in India, Ladakh and Baramulla will be the only comfortable places as temperatures are not too high. Rain seems unlikely but if any, it will be light and isolated as the Western Disturbance is moving away from North India.

Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand- Very little activity in terms of rain is expected in these hilly states as well. If at all than rain will pick up only during the later part of the day and temperatures will not be too high so people here can cast their votes comfortably.
