Once again, the hills of Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand are gearing up for good spell of rain and snow. In fact, this is most expected to be a prolonged one, affecting the regions for almost a week. This would be due to an active Western Disturbance over Jammu and Kashmir, which will start impacting the weather of over the state by today evening. The intensity and spread would intensify by February 11, as parts of Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand would also start recording similar weather activities. The intensity would peak on February 12, wherein moderate to heavy rain and snow would lash all the three hilly states.

The activity is likely to continue on February 13, but would remain on the lower side, as after a short break another Western Disturbance would approach that will be affecting the region from February 15 onwards. With the fairly widespread rain and snow over the region, the peril of avalanches looms large over the higher reaches of the hilly states.

However, tourists can relish the famous hills stations of Srinagar, Pahalgam, Gulmarg, Shimla, Manali, Dalhousie, Kufri, Auli, and Nainital. We would say that people who have missed the snowfall this year, it is the apt time to seek in. The heavy snowfall will paint the enthralling hill stations white. So, what are you waiting for? Hurry up. But stay safe and vigilant.
