Weather Forecast Sept 20: Heavy rains likely in Gujarat, Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh

Starting with Central India, a Low Pressure Area has developed over Northeast Arabian Sea off North Konkan Coast. So, we expect moderate rains with one or two heavy spells over South Gujarat, Konkan and Goa, North Madhya Maharashtra, many parts of Madhya Pradesh. Light to moderate rains are possible over Southeast Rajasthan, parts of Vidarbha, and South Chhattisgarh. Rains will now reduce over Marathwada. The city of Mumbai may witness moderate showers. Nashik, Surat and Indore might also witness moderate rains.

Talking about South India, a Cyclonic Circulation can be seen near Andhra Pradesh coast. Therefore, light to moderate rains are possible over North coastal Andhra Pradesh, parts of Telangana, Coastal Karnataka and Kerala. Monsoon will remain subdued over Rayalaseema, Interior Karnataka and Tamil Nadu. We expect light scattered rains in these places. Chennai and Bengaluru may also receive light rains. Hyderabad will however receive moderate rains. Andaman and Nicobar Islands are gearing for some heavy rains in the next 24 hours.

Coming on to East and Northeast Odisha, here East Uttar Pradesh, parts of Bihar, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim may receive light to moderate rains at a few places. Isolated light rains are also possible over Jharkhand, Gangetic West Bengal and Odisha. Northeast India will get light rains with one or two moderate spells. Kolkata will however remain dry.

Lastly in Northwest India, in the absence of any weather system, weather of North Rajasthan will remain dry. Light patchy rains are however likely over Punjab, Haryana and West Uttar Pradesh. Light to moderate rains may occur over parts of Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand. Delhi NCR will remain warm and humid along with chances of patchy rains.
