Weather Forecast Sep 5: Ferocious rains to lash Mumbai, Valsad with heavy showers over Khargone, Ahmednagar, Indore, Vadodara

The Axis of Monsoon Trough passes through North Rajasthan, North Madhya Pradesh, North Chhattisgarh, North Odisha towards East-central Bay of Bengal.

In Central parts of the country, the Low-Pressure Area is over North Chhattisgarh and adjoining East Madhya Pradesh. The Axis of Monsoon Trough is moving across Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh then towards the Bay of Bengal. Moderate to heavy rains are possible in many parts of West Madhya Pradesh, South Jharkhand, North Maharashtra. While light to moderate rains will be seen over rest parts of the central parts of the country.

Active off-shore Trough is running from South Gujarat coast to Kerala. In wake of these weather systems, heavy rains with decreased intensity to continue along the Maharashtra coast. Mumbai may see heavy to very heavy rains. The intensity of rains will decrease but heavy rains will still be a sight.

Down South, the off –shore Trough will be giving heavy rains over parts of Coastal Karnataka and North Kerala coast. Moderate rain is possible over North Telangana and North Andhra Pradesh, extreme North Karnataka and South Kerala. Rest interior parts of South Peninsula to receive scattered light rains. Andaman and Nicobar Islands will continue witnessing moderate to heavy rains accompanied with strong winds.

In the eastern parts of the country, the further movement of Low-Pressure Area has resulted in decreased rainfall activities over West Bengal, Jharkhand and Bihar. Mainly light rains at few places is a possibility. A Cyclonic Circulation in the lower level over North Odisha coast may result in few moderate spells over North Odisha. Another system, that is the Cyclonic Circulation can be seen over East Assam. In wake of this system, light to moderate rains will be seen at many places of Northeast states, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim and adjoining Northeast Bihar.

Up in the North, the remnants of Western Disturbance may cause scattered moderate rains over Uttarakhand with isolated heavy spells and adjoining Himachal Pradesh. Jammu and Kashmir to witness dry weather. Similar weather conditions will prevail over Punjab, Haryana, North Rajasthan, extreme West Uttar Pradesh. However, short spells of rain/ showers may occur along the foothills of these regions. Moderate rains also possible over Southeast Rajasthan and adjoining central parts courtesy the Monsoon Trough. Delhi and NCR will witness patchy rains with warm and humid weather to persist.
