Weather Forecast Oct 23: Red alert for coastal stations of Karnataka, Andhra, extremely heavy rains likely

Down South, a Low-Pressure Area is over Coastal Andhra Pradesh and a Cyclonic circulation is over North Karnataka coast. In wake of these weather systems, we expect heavy to very heavy rains over Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Coastal Karnataka, and parts of North Kerala. While light to moderate rain with few heavy spells can be seen over interior Karnataka, Rayalaseema, and parts of Tamil Nadu. Also, light to moderate rain can be a sight over Telangana. Chennai, Bengaluru and Hyderabad may witness moderate rainfall activity. Whereas Kannur, Mangalore and Karwar may see heavy showers.

Meanwhile in Central India, moderate to heavy rains are possible over South Konkan and Goa as well as parts of Madhya Maharashtra. Scattered light to moderate showers will be seen over rest Maharashtra and Chhattisgarh. Whereas isolated light rains are possible over Southeast Madhya Pradesh. The weather of Gujarat and Rajasthan as well as West Madhya Pradesh will be dry.

Heading to the eastern parts of our country wherein moderate rains are possible over South Odisha and scattered light to moderate showers can be seen over rest Odisha, Gangetic West Bengal and Jharkhand along with isolated pockets of South Bihar. It is likely that the rain activities will remain subdued over Northeast India. However, scattered light rain with isolated moderate spells are possible.

In Northern parts of our country, a Western Disturbance is moving across Jammu and Kashmir. Thus, scattered light rain with isolated snowfall is possible over the upper reaches of Jammu and Kashmir with isolated light rain over Himachal Pradesh.
